Haute couture : Imane Ayissi X Beading workshop, Fondation Jean-Félicien Gacha

This gown is a piece designed by renowned stylist Imane Ayissi. 

The original floral shaped inserts were hand embroidered by Mme Igénie Nomba following the traditional Bamiléké technique and totalling more than 150h of work. Mme Nomba is a Master beader and head of the Beading workshop at Jean-Félicien Gacha foundation located in West-Cameroon. 

The garment was worn among others by journalist, author and film director Mme Rokhaya Diallo.

The unique piece was celebrated at the French Arts & Craft museum - Musée des arts décoratifs -  in September 2021 during les Oiseaux Migrateurs’s exhibition « Bonne arrivée » highlighting African contemporary design.
